Protein Powder

Looking to build muscle, improve recovery, feel fuller for longer and reduce muscle soreness? A great quality protein powder is the perfect place to start. Choose a wheyvegan or collagen protein to suit your goals from our massive range including Australia’s best proteins like Gold Standard, Biofurnace, NOWAY, Power Plant, Syntha 6 & more.

We recommend using a fast digesting protein after your exercise or training sessions, such as WPI. During the hour after physical activity your body is hungry for nutrients to help with glycogen replenishment and muscle repair. If your goal is muscle growth or staying fuller for longer, it can also be beneficial to use a Casein protein, such as Muscle Nation Casein Custard as a snack or before bed, this is a slow digesting protein that will fuel your muscles for up to 8 hours.

Shop the best protein powders for any lifestyle or fitness goal

Whether you’re looking to bulk up and build muscle, tone and strengthen your body or lose weight, protein powder is a powerful tool in helping you meet your fitness goals. At Fat Burners Only, we stock a range of the best protein powders from nutrition and fitness brands that will suit any individual.

Find the right protein powder for your needs

Protein powder can be derived from a variety of sources. At Fat Burners Only, we stock a range of protein supplements to suit anyone’s needs. Generally, there are three types of protein powder you can choose from:

Whey protein powder

— Derived from dairy milk by separating the curds and whey, this is one of the best sources of protein available. Whey protein contains many of the essential amino acids our bodies need to function.

As whey protein powder is derived from dairy, some people with lactose intolerances may find it difficult to digest. If this is the case, you may prefer WPI or whey protein isolate, which is further refined to contain less lactose and be easier to digest.

Casein protein powder

— Casein is another form of protein that is derived from cow’s and sheep’s milk. While whey is made from the liquid part of the milk, casein protein powder is made from the milk solids, or curd. Like whey protein, it also contains all 9 essential amino acids our bodies need and is made up of 80% to 82% protein by weight.

Casein Custard

— Look no further than casein custard if you're searching for a delicious and nutritious nighttime snack that can boost your recovery or help you stay satiated during a caloric deficit. Casein custard offers many benefits, including slow digestion, making it an excellent choice for those seeking improved recovery and prolonged satiety.

Plant-based protein powder

— If you prefer a plant-based diet or have an allergy that prevents you from taking whey and casein protein, we also offer a range of vegan plant-based protein powder formulas that still pack a punch. Plant protein is also a slower-digesting form of protein, meaning it’s excellent for improving satiety levels.

Plant-based protein powder can be derived from many different sources, including brown rice, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, beans, peas, buckwheat, quinoa, millet and amaranth. It’s also available in flavoured or unflavoured varieties.

Collagen protein

— Collagen protein has emerged as a superstar in the world of protein supplements, rapidly gaining popularity and becoming one of our best-selling products. Derived from both bovine (cow) and marine sources, this remarkable protein offers many benefits — from improved gut health to supercharged muscle recovery.

Another significant advantage of collagen protein is its non-inflammatory nature. Unlike some protein supplements that may cause digestive distress or inflammation, this protein is generally very well-tolerated — making it ideal for individuals with sensitive stomachs or those looking to minimise gut inflammation.

FAQs

What is protein?

Protein is one of the macronutrients that is contained in the food we eat. It’s essential for the human body to grow, strengthen and thrive. Our daily calories and energy come from three main macronutrients: fats, carbohydrates and protein. Of these, protein is probably the most important for muscle and tissue development, strengthening and recovery. It also aids in supporting our immune system, maintaining bone health and other important biochemical reactions.

While protein is found in many foods we eat like meat, fish, eggs, yoghurt, nuts and dark leafy greens, you may find that it’s hard to get enough protein from foods alone in order to meet your fitness goals and build muscle mass. This is where protein powder comes in. It allows you to significantly increase your protein intake without blowing out your kilojoule intake for the day and fuel your workouts.

What are the benefits of protein?

Protein is essential for providing our bodies with the fuel they need to function, lend structure and support for cells, grow muscle mass, maintain muscle while losing fat and repair and heal tissue, muscles and bones.

Protein is also a great way to feel full and satiated, but it is more easily burned as fuel in our bodies than fats or carbohydrates. If you want to bulk up and gain muscle or lose weight without losing strength, protein is an essential part of the puzzle along with a good diet and exercise.

How much protein do I need?

The amount of protein you need will depend on your lifestyle, body type, weight, height and health and fitness goals (i.e. whether you’re trying to build muscle or lose fat). There are resources online to help you calculate what your daily macronutrients — or ‘macros’ — should be to meet your goals. Once you’ve calculated this, you can supplement the amount of protein you need with protein powder. In general, though, it is recommended that you should eat around 0.8g of protein per kilo of body weight a day.

What are the risks of not getting enough protein?

Without sufficient protein, our bodies are forced to rely on other sources of fuel to support our activity and exercise. This means that even if you’re eating healthily and regularly working out, you can start to lose muscle mass and strength — something you want to avoid, even if overall weight loss is your goal!

Protein is also an essential component for rest, recovery and healing. If you’re not getting enough protein in your diet, your body will struggle to recover after workouts, maintain the intensity you want with exercise and bounce back after injuries.
